Celebrating Summer with Celebrity Swimwear

The swimwear category has been a hot one for celebrity collaboration over the past couple of years, with new collections from actresses, models, athletes, musicians, and more. Some of the forays into the category are extensions of existing activewear or shapewear lines, while others are standalone efforts.

A few examples from this summer:

  • Demi Moore announced a limited-edition collection of swimwear with Andie, inspired by vintage looks. The 10 pieces, priced from $75 to $155, are all in styles that are brand new to the Andie label. Moore and her daughters appeared in an advertising campaign for the marketer in 2021, which led to this collection; the actress is also an investor in the five-year-old brand. Andie is known for offering well-fitting swimwear for women of all ages and sizes.
  • Model Gigi Hadid paired with Frankies Bikinis for a collection of Americana-infused swimwear, starting with drops of women’s and babies’ sizes, the latter in the form of a 9-style Mother’s Day capsule. The children’s range represented Frankies’ first-ever kids’ collection. These initial efforts were followed by a drop that included both kids’ and adults’ styles. The children’s items mimic the adult looks so parents can create Mini-Me pairings.
  • Reality star Jojo Fletcher, best known for her role in the Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise, teamed with Cupshe for a 19-piece capsule priced under $40, available on the brand’s e-commerce site. Separately, Cupshe also partnered with Tabria Majors, a body-positivity influencer and model, for its first plus-size range. Inspired by Los Angeles, the 19-piece line extends in size from 0X to 3X.
  • Kim Kardashian’s Skims shapewear brand dipped into the swim category with a Skims Swim collection that sold out quickly, followed by a second drop that included metallic suits and other styles. Sizes hit the full spectrum from XXS to 4X. The products are collectively billed as a “swim system” that allows consumers to mix and match different tops, bottoms, and coverups.
  • Kate Hudson’s well-established Fabletics brand entered the swim space with seven colorful mix-and-match pieces in an inclusive size range of XXS to 4X; the assortment is set to expand over time. Priced from $29.95 to $49.95, the collection is sold in Fabletics’ online and offline shops. Swim is just the latest category expansion for the brand, which has added lounge, sleep, and casual wear to its core activewear offerings.

These examples follow a long list of new celebrity swimwear collections that were released in 2021, including Beyoncé’s first Ivy Park swim assortment with Adidas, the launch of Kylie Swim by Kylie Jenner, actress Clair Holt’s range with Andie Swim, tennis star Naomi Osaka’s and actress Hailee Steinfeld’s selections with Frankie’s Bikinis, actress Sara Foster’s whole-family collection with Summersalt, rapper Saweetie’s offering with the Matte Collection, and rapper Megan Thee Stallion’s array with Fashion Nova.
